Lagrua conducted a series of interviews with all stakeholders that supported the case for a change of logo and a wider review of the brand for Institut Les Salines (“salt mines” in Catalan), a vocational training school. It was felt that the existing messaging and visual identity were confusing, overly formal and lacked the energy and enthusiasm of a project were young students were the main actors.
The new Les Salines symbol represents both a salt mountain and a salt shaker, and the hexagonal shape reminds of the link between students and teachers and the partnership between school and businesses.
The new visual identity also allows the flexibility to be applied to co-branded partner programmes and products. A number of resources were created to help the school implement the new brand – including templates, complete brand guidelines and best practice examples.
